The Tech kitchen has a large inventory of assistive technology tools that support safe and independent cooking. Some of these products are designed for people with specific types of disabilities. Other items are typically available online and in kitchen departments at retail stores, but they have features that make them useful for someone with a disability or a functional limitation that interferes with meal preparation. Even though these items are marketed to the general population, they can also be considered assistive technology.
The tools are organized based on common cooking tasks or categories of equipment. Within each category, there are meal preparation tools with features that address the cooking challenges associated with specific disabilities (for example: blindness, shaky hands, mobility problems, etc.). Our Tech Kitchen staff can demonstrate these assistive technology tools to help you decide which products match your cooking needs, whether you are new to cooking or want to improve your skills.
